A planning application dating to 1956 seeking to convert the area into a popcorn factory reveals the entrance to be via 7 Pelham Place[1]. Prior to the building in front becoming an amusement arcade, it was a restaurant operated by Dimarcos in the 1950s[2], then following two changes of hands, the Sussex Grill into the 1970s[3].
