Rock Lane Estate

From Historical Hastings

Planning for the Rock Lane Estate, which now is the roads Montgomery Road, Mountbatten Close and Churchill Avenue commenced in 1944[1], with the first houses being completed by 1947, although the roads were not fully made-up until 1951[2]. Notably, the estate was to include accommodation for older people within the heart of the community; a further notable event being that the thousandth council house constructed was built on the estate and opened by the Mayor on the 9th of May 1949[3]
