Malcolm Mitchell

Malcolm Mitchell was a government and admiralty surplus shop at 48 High Street between 1946 and 1988, many of the lasting memories of the shop being the high piles of clothing and other sundry items. The store was run by three members of the same family; Malcolm, Jim and Tom Mitchell - the latter being the last in the business - the shop closing on his retirement and the entire stock, comprising over 1,000 lots being sold by auction.
