Ponbay Bridge

This bridge (now replaced by a culvert under the road) carried the Ore Stream beneath what is now Elphinstone Road at the foot of the valley. The name (Pond Bay) suggests iron workings were in the vicinity at some point in history. Alternatively, the name may merely be a corrupted form of 'Pond by (the) Bridge'
