Also known for a time as Eaglesbourne Glen[1] There was a Bronze age rapier discovered here.[2]

A visitor's guide published in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer during 1869 describes the area thus[3]:

Ecclesbourne.—A picturesque glen route (via East Hill to the Dripping Well)—a delightful ramble in dry weather.
