Together with the adjoining East Lodge, the combination was known as South Lodge. Constructed in 1829 as part of Burton's town planning, it is a two storey property with a basement on the north side of Maze Hill forming half of an archway leading into St. Leonards Gardens.
This building was utilised as a visitor centre between 1999 and 2022, when plans were submitted to convert it into residential accommodation[1]. Grade II Listed (Historic England listing 1043442)
