This property occupied, what was, a large corner plot between Mount Road and Edmund Road, accessed via a serpentine drive from the Mount Road side. It was originally Sunny Farm. By 1878 it was Sunnyside and by 1900 Sunnydale.

There is record of it having been sold at auction in 1910[1]. It was then occupied by Mr. Henry Stephens, who renamed the property 'San Jose' in the later 1920s, also recorded as giving a triangular portion of the garden to form a decorative island at the junction of the two roads[2]. On Henry Stephens' death, the property was occupied by a Mr. William Goodwin; at this time, the property was split into two flats, of which Goodwin was the landlord of both, living in the lower flat and letting out the upper[3]. One of the tenancies of the aforementioned flats led to a court case, extensively reported upon in the local paper, whereby the then-tenant, Mr. McCall was allegedly assaulted by his landlord for putting some water onto an earth wire for a wireless set[3]. The tenant ultimately applied for an injunction against his landlord, although nothing further has yet been found relating to this.

By 1938, there are some additional bungalows (becoming part of Edmund Road) appearing in the garden immediately adjacent to the house[4]. After several planning proposals for various types of redevelopment had been submitted to the council during the early 1970s, the house was demolished around 1975 and a small development of three pairs of semi-detached houses, St Jose Close replaced it[5].
