Submarine UB-131
From Historical Hastings
UB-131 was surrendered to the Allies at Harwich on 21 November 1918, in accordance with the terms of the Armistice with Germany.
Like the SM U-118, UB-131 met an unfortunate end. While being towed from Harwich to Falmouth for explosive trials, she broke free on 9 January 1921 and ran aground at Bulverhythe. Unlike the U-118, however, UB-131 attracted less public attention—perhaps due to her less prominent location—and as a result, photographs and postcards of the wreck are relatively rare.
The wreck was later sold to F. Ray & Sons on 23 May 1921 for £655 and dismantled on site.
