Philip Cole was an artist of some repute. He studied at the Hastings College of Art and the Royal College of Art, going on to show 12 works at the Royal Academy and 46 at the Royal Society of British Artists. He was resident at 14 Linton Crescent in 1891[1], staying resident there until at least 1901[2]. By 1939, he had moved to Tile Kiln, Tile Kiln Lane[3]. On the 14th of March 1910, he joined the Derwent Lodge of Freemasons in Hastings. Philip Cole Close is named after him.
