John Parkin (1803-1887)

Born and baptised (14/6/1803) in Workington, Cumberland, the Rev. J. Parkin was the first incumbent at Halton Church, taking up the role in 1838[1].

At the time of the 1861 census, the household at the rectory - known then as 'The Chapel House' showed the household employed a cook, Julianna Thomas and a housemaid, Susan Perry[2]

On his death in 1887, he left an estate valued at over £17,000[3]
