John Cassum (1720-1773)

John was a Mercer (nowadays a haberdashery or cloth merchant), and was evidently highly successful in this enterprise, leaving an estate well in excess of £10,000 upon his demise. On the 3rd of October 1796, he is recorded as taking on an apprentice - Hugh R. Deane.
