Formerly a country club, the Hollington Oak first opened its doors in April 1952. Boasting a saloon bar, a children's room with its own external access so children could enter without going near the bar area, croquet and tennis courts in the gardens and a private drive offering access to a car-parking area. The first licensee was Mr. Joseph Jones, who before moving to London to run bars had lived in Hollington as a child and regularly sang in the choir of Church in the Wood, later joining the choir at St. Johns Church[1]
