Goat Cart

From Historical Hastings

During the 19th and early years of the 20th century, goat (and dog) drawn carts were utilised to aid children in the skill and art of managing a horse-drawn cart. The numerous advertisements in the newspapers were testament to this practice, the goats frequently being referred to as 'docile', 'calm' and 'patient' in the aforementioned adverts.
