Originally built in the early 1860s the upper floors were used as the Havelock Hotel, the hotel was bankrupted in the 1880s and the upper floors of the building was then occupied by various businesses including Walter Parks (Auctioneer, Surveyor and Land Agent) and later Woodham and Sons Auctioneers, Barber and Co (1890s), Scot Cycles (1900) etc, with a retail outlet at ground floor level occupied by (among others) Crew Davis (clothing chain c1960s)[1].
