Sir Howard Elphinstone, 2nd Baronet (1804–1893)

From Historical Hastings

Sir Howard Elphinstone inherited much of his father's lands and followed closely in his career path, being a barrister and achieving the degrees M. A. and Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.). Marrying Elizabeth Curteis in 1829, they had two children. He was elected M. P. for Hastings in 1835 on his second contest for the seat, standing for the Whig party in Liverpool but failing to achieve the seat during the next election, then Lewes in 1841.
