From Historical Hastings

Launched from adjacent to Breeds Place[1] by means of a capstan, this yacht was purchased by Messrs. Payne and Bumstead circa 1848[2]. When the French King and Queen were resident at the Royal Victoria Hotel in 1849, the vessel was placed at their disposal and was reportedly used almost daily[3]
