Better known as ITT Consumer Products and later, Phillips, this factory was one of the first occupiers of the Ponswood Industrial Estate, closing in June 1980[1] with the loss of some 600 jobs. Was at one time, one of the largest employers in the town with 1,200 people employed at the factory[2]. In addition to their own manufacturing, the company took over a number of smaller consumer product manufacturers in the area, such as British Radio Corporation (BRC) of Beeching Road Bexhill, in 1971 or 72. The parent company was headquartered in New York.
